Tips four your short vacation in South Tyrol
Caldaro in South Tyrol is a good starting point for day trips in the surroundings. Visit for example the biotope "Lago di Favogna", go for a ride with the funicular on the local mountain Mendola, see the gorge Rastenbachklamm in the forest "Bosco di Castelvechio", go and see the gorge "Bletterbachschlucht" located in Aldino or walk the natural park Monte Corno. Enjoy hiking in South Tyrol at the foot of the impressive Dolomite Mountains or along the popular Lake Garda or make a cultural trip to Verona and visit its amazing Arena. Trento, Bolzano or Merano are, however, perfect for shopping trips.
Highly recommendable for your short vacation in South Tyrol are visits to the numerous castles, palaces and museums in the surroundings, as for instance the castle of Appiano or Boymont, situated in the neighbour village Appiano. Also the South Tyrol Museum of Archeology, where the famous iceman "Ötzi" is exhibited, is worth to be visited. One of the winter highlights is the popular Christmas Market in Bolzano.
